About
Aneek Mustafa Anwar is a Bangladeshi photographer, visual artist and educator currently based in Athens, Ohio. He has received his MFA in Photography and Integrated Media from Ohio University in Spring 2026. His work focuses on memory and identity in the personal and social sphere, lived experience and juxtaposition of socio-cultural positioning of immigrants/migrants in the USA and surveillance based contemporary society. His research interests include social theories and their implications in personal and socio-political situations and the recent emergence of AI technology in all spheres of life.
Aneek has worked as an educator and Vice-principal of Counter Foto and a photographer for GIZ, BRAC and local NGOs in Bangladesh. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology and a diploma in documentary photography from Counter Foto. He has trained under renowned photographers like Philip Blenkinsop, Raghu Rai and Arko Datto. Aneek’s work has been published in newspapers and books and shown nationally and internationally. In 2022, his solo exhibition ‘The Transient’ was funded by the Embassy of Germany in Dhaka as part of the celebrations of 50 years of friendship between Bangladesh and Germany. He was a fellow of the CrossCulture fellowship program by Institute Für Auslandsbeziehungen (ifa) in 2019 and completed his fellowship in program in Berlin. Since then he has been a regular contributor to CCP publications and has conducted trainings and participated in conferences organised by the institute.
