Aneek Mustafa Anwar

 

Aneek Mustafa Anwar is a documentary photographer and photography educator based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. His main focus of work is on surveillance of our society, cultural phenomena, humanitarian and gender issues, and the effects of climate change on his country. He is currently the vice-principal of Counter Foto and a consultant photographer for WHO, BRAC, The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, Open Society Foundations (OSF), Pally Bikash Kendra (PBK) and Center for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP). He graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). His dedication and passion for photography have forced him to become a professional photographer. He has studied photography at Counter Foto and under Raghu Rai, Philip Blenkinsop and Arko Datto. His photographic works have been published in the book ‘Bangladesh – Seen from Within’ by DRIK, magazine ‘Creative Image Magazine’ edited by Raghu Rai, BRAC Annual Report 2018, The Open Society Foundations Instagram handle and major newspapers such as ‘The Daily Star’, ‘The Independent’, ‘Prothom Alo’ and many other publications. Aneek has won several awards in photography. His works have been awarded several times and exhibited worldwide in exhibitions such as ‘Sony World Photography Awards’ in the year 2010 and the Andrei Stenin Press Photo Contest in 2019.
